We decided not to open Ooma's Cookie Jar storefront today because we are experiencing a snowstorm which is supposed to go on all day. Last time we had a storm like this (New Year's Eve), I made a lot of product, went to the store and had no customers...
...and all had to be thrown away - wasted. So, we made a decision to not waste food today. We will reopen tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. In the meantime, it gives me more time today to make some more product, I think I will made the peanut caramel bars that were one of the featured items on "Phantom Gourmet".
Valentine's Day is coming up quickly. We will have converstion heart cookies, along with the raspberry sugar cookie hearts, small chocolate coated heart shaped cakes, perhaps some homemade white and dark chocolate heart pops, chocolate coated rod pretzels with crushed candy canes, etc. I probably will also make some home made truffles and start making fruit tartlets again. Some customers have been asking for them. We will have some starting this week, if the fruit looks good.
Hope to see you at the store soon! In the meantime, watch "Thyme In The Kitchen" on cable access. We have two new shows - one called "Herbs" which was actually taped in 2005 (!) and just got edited now. Sylvia is in this one and does an exceptional explanation on herbs, their uses and how to dry them. The second show is new, just taped this past Sunday called "Let's Get Sauced!" This program is all about 3 different entrees, each with a different sauce, as well a dessert with a strawberry sauce. Note the great camera work on the close ups. Makes your mouth water!
